Bring on the at home date ideas!
Since you’re spending more time at home than ever before, I’m guessing date night might have taken a hit. 2020 living is stressful and you’re confined to the same space day in and day out– date night was bound to be impacted.
That said, I’ve always believed the advice that you should never stop dating your spouse. Marriage shouldn’t mean the end of spontaneous outings and romantic moments. Yes, you’ll have to balance out your other responsibilities as a couple but no one gets married just to be able to split the bills and the laundry work.
Today I’m helping you recapture that date night magic with a DIY Couple’s Photo Shoot!
Don’t be intimidated. You don’t need a fancy camera or a million dollar light set up. I’ll walk you through the whole thing!
1. PLAN YOUR AT HOME DATE NIGHT: DIY COUPLE’S PHOTOSHOOT
Set a clear day and time for this date night activity.
This will give you both time to get ready and feel more confident in front of the camera.
You will also want to read through this post and have everything ready before the date actually arrives!
Last minute shuffling will add unnecessary stress.
2. GRAB YOUR CAMERA AND GEAR
You don’t need a fancy DSLR for this, your phone will do just fine.
The same goes for a tripod/stand. You don’t need one but they’re pretty affordable and 100% worth it in my opinion. Plus, can use it over and over again (family Christmas photos, anniversary photos, basically ALL year long).
Here are a few well-rated and budget friendly options:
If you decide to skip the tripod and phone stand, you’ll need to strategically plan your photo shoot in an area that allows you to lean your phone on a shelf or dresser.
3. FIND THE BEST LIGHT
Expensive light kits be damned!
Choose a spot in your home or yard that has bright, indirect sunlight. This will likely decide the time of your date begins. Remember, different seasons will have different lighting throughout the day
You can also get a little artsy and try some low lighting shots with candles.
Trust me when I say this, you NEED to have examples of the poses you want to recreate. This will make it so much easier for you to get relaxed in front of the camera.
You can use the ones from this post or visit Pinterest for inspiration. Whatever you do, plan ahead!
5. HAVE FUN & ENJOY THE DATE
Regardless of how the photos turn out, jumping in front of the camera for a flirty date night photo shoot is going to be such a memorable experience.
You’ll laugh, you’ll kiss, and you’ll let the worries of the world melt away just for a little while.
