Looking for fun things to do at home?
Maybe the better question is, are you bored in the house, are you in the house bored?! (Yes, I love TikTok too!)
Since most of us have been practicing social distancing and following stay at home orders for a few weeks now, I’m guessing you’re starting to run out of fun things to do at home.
You can only bake so much banana bread!
Hence the birth of this new mini series, FUN THINGS TO DO AT HOME! (Creative name, right?)
The series will highlight some fun ways you can entertain yourself while staying safe inside.
This week I’m sharing all the details on Airbnb online experiences and why you need to book one as soon as possible!
*Bookmark this page! I will be updating the review and recommendation section at the bottom of this post as I try more experiences!
What Are Airbnb Online Experiences?
The Airbnb website sums it up best: Online experiences are live, interactive video sessions limited to small groups. They offer access to expert hosts, online interaction, and a great way to connect with people around the world.
Airbnb also requires these experiences to be “quarantine friendly”, which means you don’t need to leave your home to participate and they should only require minimal supplies, if any.
What Types of Experiences Are Offered?
There are a lot of different kinds of experiences available and they range from something as simple as a cooking class to something as unexpected as meditating with a sleepy sheep! Plus, new offerings are popping up weekly.
Heck, if you want to learn how to make cheese while hanging out with a mama goat and her kid, you can! (I’m dead serious, check it out HERE)
Most of the experiences can be broken up into these main categories: family fun, food & drink, meet olympians, animals, travel & culture
How Much Does Each Experience Cost?
Costs vary by experience and by day but they range from about $2 to $25 dollars. If you’re looking to save a few bucks, I recommend booking a weekday activity.
You can also pay extra to book the experience exclusively for your group. This is a great way to make it feel more like a special family activity.
How Long is Each Experience?
Most experiences are 1 to 2 hours.
I’ve noticed that time really does fly by when you’re engaged and having fun so don’t shy away from the longer experiences!
Are There Any Requirements for Booking?
All you need is an Airbnb account, Wifi, and a device that allows you to use Zoom!
I was initially worried that my parents might not be able to participate since they don’t have a computer but Zoom works on iPads, tablets, and even most cell phones!
Are There Any Experiences that You Recommend?
Oh girl, you know I’ve got some great recommendations!
Below is a list and quick review for each of the Airbnb online experiences I’ve tried. Plus,I’ll be updating this list as I try more so be sure to bookmark this page!
Also, I can’t begin to express how much fun it is just to chat, laugh, and connect with people in a different part of the world! I loved meeting each of our hosts and learning about their life and their “new normal”.
