I’m excited to be partnering with the Museum of Illusions in Hollywood, CA to create this fun post for you!
As a part of living a more eco-friendly life, I’m trying to make a big shift from consumption/shopping to finding fun ways to spend quality time with the people I care about.
Experiences create memories that you’ll cherish as you get older and no “product” can give you the same warm and fuzzy feeling when you look back on your life.
(If you’re ever looking for ideas of things to do instead of things to buy, you can visit the EXPLORE category of the blog for more posts like this one!)
So let’s chat about this fun date spot!
WHAT IS IT?
Located in Hollywood, CA., this new pop up is filled with colorful optical illusions that make for such great photos! Plus, there’s an “upside down house” section of the museum that allows you to get extra creative with the images you capture.
WHY YOU’LL LOVE IT
First off, it’s a low waste experience! There are no physical print outs, just digital photos.
Secondly, you’ll feel like a kid again! Whether you’re pretending to fall off a skyscraper or you’re making nervous faces as you sit by a 3D painting of an alligator, it’ll be hard to keep a smile off your face as you play make believe. This is why enjoyed this experience as much as I did.
Between working full-time and creating content, I don’t have much time to “be silly” and use my imagination in the same way I did when I was younger. Being an adult sucks sometimes and it’s nice to leave your worries and responsibilities at the door for a bit.
The Museum of Illusions also offers some cool upgrades to help make your visit even better!
You can rent a tripod with a phone attachment for only $7 dollars! The tripod makes it easy to get your whole group in a photo. It also means you can enjoy the experience alone if your husband isn’t into it!
If you want to fully immerse yourself in the experience, you can purchase a photography package. You’ll have your own dedicated photographer escort you through the museum and take your photos (which makes you feel like a total VIP!). This means everyone in your group can focus on posing, laughing, and connecting with each other instead of trying to get the perfect Instagram photo.
PLANNING YOUR VISIT
Location: Museum of Illusions
6751 Hollywood Blvd, Los Angeles, CA 90028
*Insider Tip: Show up early on the weekends to avoid crowds and don’t rush through the museum! The space is small but every section is filled photo ops so take your time. (You can expect to spend about 45-90 minutes at the museum, depending on the size of your group and how quickly you move through each 3D painting)
Are you excited to check out the Museum of Illusions?! Which 3D scene is speaking to you?!
I’d also love to hear your thoughts on choosing experiences over shopping. Is this a change you’re already in the process of making or is this something that feels like a struggle for you? Let me know in the comments!
Lastly, a big thank you to the Museum of Illusions for sponsoring this post!
