Stay at home orders in Los Angeles were recently extended to May 15th!
To keep my spirits high during quarantine I started challenging myself to get fully dressed each day as if I was going to work or out into the world.
It wasn’t easy at first. The current pandemic and state of the world is scary, stressful and mentally taxing. (Hang in there!)
So why did I think that getting dressed would help me deal with the stress of our current circumstance?
First, it’s nice to have a daily routine that gets you out of bed and out of your pajamas. Prior to this, we all had our own routines and even though those routines may have been different, there are two things they all had in common – comfort & purpose.
Our daily routine gives us a reason to get up and start moving – feed the cat, make coffee, take a shower. You’ll find comfort in doing familiar things each day and giving yourself this small dose of comfort every morning is nothing short of self-love!
This is why getting dressed up each day can have a positive impact on your day. I know it might be a little tough to find the motivation to do this and spend time figuring out what to wear each day so I created a fun 7 day fashion challenge for us to follow.
The challenge starts this Monday but honestly, you can start any time you feel ready to.
I hope this adds a little joy to your week!
7 DAY QUARANTINE FASHION CHALLENGE
MONDAY : JEANS + T-SHIRT + HEELS
I’m starting us off nice and easy. Grab your favorite pair of jeans and a clean, wrinkle-free t-shirt. Yep, I’m making you steam/iron! Take the time to get your clothes ready the way you would for a regular day.
Next, pick out heels to match your outfit. Your heels don’t have to be sky-high, the goal here is to add a little excitement to your look (and day) by going the extra step to dress up your outfit.
TUESDAY: COLORFUL DRESS
If you’re in Los Angeles, the sun will be shining bright today! Throw on a colorful dress to add a little cheer to your day.
WEDNESDAY: ROMPER OR JUMPSUIT
The middle of the week always seems like a blurry mess so I thought a simple, one-piece outfit would be the easiest way to keep your stress levels low while also making sure you got dressed up!
THURSDAY: LITTLE BLACK DRESS
There are SO MANY ways to interpret this style prompt. Maybe your go-to little black dress is strappy and sexy or maybe you have a simple black dress that you love to pair with statement accessories.
Whatever you choose to wear for LBD day, have fun with it!
FRIDAY: SKIRT + SWEATER
We’ve got cold and rainy weather arriving today Angelenos!
Since most of us will be staying inside, you can pair a cozy sweater with ANY skirt in your wardrobe.
I love tucking a chunky sweater into a short skirt. (I’m positive this breaks every fashion rule and is very “Californian” of me but oh well! #LiveYourLife)
SATURDAY: DATE NIGHT OUTFIT
Just because we can’t go out, doesn’t mean we can’t make an effort to spend quality time with our significant other. (Quality time requires intention and effort)
You don’t have to spend all day in your date night outfit but you should set a “date time” with your hubby so that you both can plan your day accordingly.
Also, don’t be afraid to cut loose and take a few risks with this look! You’re at home, be bold!
SUNDAY: MAXI SKIRT + BODYSUIT
This is the coziest Sunday fashion look I could think of without pushing us into the dangerous territory of athleisure or loungewear! (I love athleisure and loungewear but it doesn’t work for this challenge!)
Please feel free to share this 7 day fashion challenge!
Completing it with a friend is extra fun because you can send photos to each other to share your outfits and stay connected. (You can also tag or DM me @Niki_Camacho on Instagram so I can see!)
Stay safe out there!
